Last night, I watched a documentary by BBC – 10 Things That You Need To Know About Losing Weight. Research was done for every single point. I was surprised with the outcome of few of the points.

1. Don’t Skip Meals

A CT scan of the brain showed the brain lighting up when a volunteer who had skipped breakfast was shown pictures of high calorie, high fat food and little reaction to low-calories food. The volunteer who had eaten breakfast scan showed no difference between pictures of low calories food and high calories food. The area of the brain lighting up was one associated with appetite so the brain was guiding choice towards calorie laden food

2. Use Smaller Plates

The idea is to eat less – smaller plate, less food, less calories

3. Count Your Calories

Count your calories intake, consume food with less calories

4. Don’t Blame Your Metabolism

If you don’t lose weight it’s not because of you have low metabolism rate. You are not eating right or you count the calories intake wrongly.

5. Protein Staves Off Hunger Pangs

Higher protein intake keeps you satisfied for longer because it triggers the release of more of the chemical that tells the brain you are full.

6. Soup Keeps You Feeling Fuller For Longer

The same food was served to two groups of soldiers. Half ate chicken, rice and vege on a plate with a glass of water. The other half ate the identical food and water liquidized and served as a soup. Stomach scans showed the soup still in the stomach long after the other group's stomachs were empty and calling to be fed

7. The Wider The Choice The More You Eat

No Buffet!

8. Low Fat Dairy Helps You Excrete More Fat

Dairy calcium binds with fat in the small intestine and passes through without being absorbed. So skimmed milk, low-fat yoghurt, cottage cheese - help to carry away fat in the gut.

9. Exercise Goes On Burning Fat Even While You Sleep

The volunteer ran at 4mph for 90 minutes and his fat burn measured. It wasn't that impressive but next day showed how it had carried on. The body accesses carbohydrates easily during exercise and has to use stored body fat to run everything over the next hours - impressive

10. Keep Moving And Lose Weight

Building small amounts of 'activity' into daily routine significantly increases heart rate and calorie expenditure. The volunteer was a US comedienne and broadcaster. She was more active at home, spent less time sitting at lunchtime and more time walking and talking, she did her radio show standing up and moving around. It made a significant difference.


Amazing isn't it? You should watch this documentary. Recommended to everyone, especially if you are trying to lose weight.

I am really into my diet this time around. I did 10 laps on Monday at UiTM's swimming pool and 10 laps on Tuesday at PADE. I think the chlorine level at PADE is much more higher than UiTM's. So, i've decided just to go to UiTM's swimming pool. One thing good about the UiTM's swimming pool is, they've separated the Men and Ladies' session. Ladies' session would be as below:

Mon - 12pm - 2pm & 8pm - 10pm
Tue - 5pm - 7pm
Wed - 12pm - 2pm & 8pm - 10pm
Thus - 5pm - 7pm
Fri - 5pm - 7pm
Sat - 5pm - 7pm
Sun - 2pm - 4pm

I am trying my best to go everyday. =)

~!:: Weekend Oct 17 - 18, 2009 ::!~

Last weekend adalah weekend yg memenatkan but i enjoyed every single moment. As you all know, last saturday was Deepavali.

Ana asked me if i want to join her to Satish's house, Deepavali open house. Since i don't have anything to do, i said ok. We reached his house at about 12.30pm. We ate Beriyani with prawns and chicken kurma. It was really nice.

We went back home and went out again after Asar prayer to Reen's house at Sg. Penchala. Sara was in town with her family so we decided to meet her at Reen's place. Sara's daughthers are so cute.
We went back home at 6.30pm and went out again after Maghrib prayer. I fetched Hazrina and went straight to Theva's house for another Deepavali open house. Went back home at 10pm.
Sunday morning after Subuh prayer, start buat cream patato for Faisal. After that accompany my grandma to her hometown, Bukit Bangkong, Sepang.

Went back home, took shower and went to Faisal's house at 8.30pm. Lepak, tgk gambar lama2, borak2, and went back home at 10.00pm.
It was a tiring weekend but i enjoyed it.
